9.00 Introduction & Discussion (Class1)
Emma and Sadie will introduce themselves and the project to the class and explain the activities that will take place during the lesson. We will also have a class discussion on what we think the countryside is – including what things you see, smell and hear in the countryside. These will all be written onto a poster at the front of the class as the children contribute them.

•  Drawing Activity
Children will then create a drawing that will be added together with those from the other two classes to make one collaborative work to be viewed by the whole school at the end of the day. This will take the form of a drawing, in pencil on paper, made by each child of a view of the countryside – this can be somewhere imagined or somewhere that they know. At the end of the lesson these drawings will be added to the windows of a train frame shape (we will bring this with us on the day) as the views from each window.

•  Colour Game
Children will then be given lots of colour paint samples and asked to pick colours that they associate with the countryside. These will be stuck together as a group collage.

•  Painting Activity
Children will select one colour from the paint samples that they think is their favourite or most relaxing / pleasurable to look at and we will then learn how to mix it. This will involve learning basic colour mixing skills and then experimenting with proportions to create different tones. They will then paint their favourite colour onto a sample board to make a class selection of favourite colours.

•  Plenary & Clear Up
Class will help clear up painting materials and will then sit as group to discuss the things we have learnt and have the opportunity to ask Sadie and Emma any questions they might have.
