In Hear it and Say is a site-specific artwork to hold and care for the stories of Waterbeach.

The work consists of 12 permanent artworks and a game set that allows residents and visitors to play the village, learning and continuing to tell its stories.

A map of the village encourages exploration of the area to seek out the artworks and the histories to which they connect inviting curiosity in all that is found along the way.

The game includes a set of character cards, introducing local people from history as well as a card for people to add themselves, a Book of Rumours, including key local stories and play instructions. Through the game players work together to piece together the stories of the village, to re-tell them and continue them for the future.

A central plinth on the village green invites people to take a pledge to hold and continue to tell these stories.

Game sets  were gifted to every household and made available to visitors through Deny Abbey and Farmland Museum.

The game was played on mass by local residents to mark its launch.

This work was developed through a long term public events programme including the creation of a living museum.
